The best steaks in the world are at Squires Loft in the City. We have eaten all over the world and can vouch for this. They are the best. The service we found to be excellent and extremely friendly. All our food, for the 6 of us, all came at the same time, was hot and to perfection. The welcome we received was as if we were old friends even though it was only our third visit. We will be going there plenty of times. Loved the special touch of sweetness at the end when we walked out. Well done to owner Harold and his friendly staff. It was a great meal.

Unleash the carnivore, here's prime Australian pasture-fed beef, aged for 28 days at strictly controlled temperatures! Well, the good people at Squires Loft in the City CBD are serious about their product. They source only the finest purveyors in the industry for beef, lamb, pork spare ribs and chicken. Edging the city’s legal precinct, lunchtime sees the utilitarian dining rooms fill with a masculine crowd of corporate types getting their protein fix for the day. More casual meat lovers converge in the evening. The 400-gram rump steak – char-grilled to your liking – needs no accompaniment, but if you want to get saucy, black pepper hits the spot.

This Melbourne CBD steakhouse has been going strong for a two decades, a testament to the ultimate satisfaction of a hearty slab of beef. Tucked away in one of Melbourne's little laneways, Squires Loft occupies the sort of blunt, masculine space that would compel you to order steak, even if you weren't craving it to start with. The menu gets straight to the point and is dominated by a generous list of prime cuts of 28-days-aged beef. To complement your chosen steak, the walls are lined with bottles of wine - predominantly bold Australian reds, of course.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Squires Loft city steakhouse has certainly earned its reputation as a specialist steakhouse that consistently provides quality fare. Using only premium Australian pasture and grass fed steer, beef is cured and aged for no less than four weeks before being cooked on custom designed chargrills to the customers personal preference. Blackboard specials, dark wood, and wall-to-wall wine racks give the dining room a somewhat masculine feel which is not at all unpleasant.
Start with an entree of baked mushrooms and fetta with garlic or herb butter, or the extremely popular pork spare ribs available in 500g and 1kg servings. From the grill selection choose your cut of beef from the various offerings (with a brief description so you can find the one best suited to your taste) such as the flavour-filled porterhouse with a trimmed side fat covering, lightly brushed with a special baste and served with chips or a baked potato. Alternatively, opt for the free-range, corn-fed chicken breast fillet, or the grilled vegetarian kebabs. Finish with the double chocolate hot fudge cake served with vanilla ice-cream. The good sized wine list is filled with bold Australian reds.

Book ahead! The steaks at Squires Loft in the city have developed a cult following among Melbourne locals. So why all the fuss?
Take a bite from their juicy scotch fillet, char-grilled and lightly basted, and you’ll soon find out. They call themselves the steak specialists, and we must agree. Carnivores will be delighted by the huge selection of premium cuts, tender beef, pork spare ribs and lamb chops. Vegetarians are catered for with a selection of gourmet salads and grilled vegetables. Wine lovers will also be surprised by the impressive selection. By far the best steak in Melbourne.

Well we just got home from dinner and I can definitely say (and we all agree), that we haven't had such great food AND great service in a long time!!!
The whole evening was thoroughly enjoyable and we were looked after pretty much all night! (I don't think I had to pour my own beer once!!)
Excellent service, excellent food!! What can I say... this place was highly recommended to me by my boss, and I will keep it running and recommend this place to anyone who wants the best steak in town!! Absolutely superb!!!

I decided after visiting Squires Loft in Goldie Place twice to share that it's the best steak in Melbourne. I found them on this website after searching for a steakhouse for a while. I'm from New York and have a high standard when it comes to a good steak. Peter Lugers and Smith and Wollenskys are the only places I can think of that compare. Very much recommended.

The delicious cuts of steak, lamb chops, pork spare ribs, sausages, chicken & yes they do have vegetarian dishes, are just amazing. The sauces are incredible too. There are plenty of side dishes that you can order as well. Plenty of desserts to choose from if your still hungry after a massive main meal.
Best steak I've had for the money.

When I want to entertain clients for lunch there is no better choice for me than Squires Loft in Goldie Place. We always leave well sated from generous first class meals. There is something special about a perfectly cooked Australian grown steak and SL do it perfectly every time. Clients are always impressed and it might make me a little boring but I find it difficult to take them anywhere else.
